What is Your Favorite Scripture Verse? (Plus Pictures from Venice!)
post by Daniel Kolenda on March 20th, 2010

HAVE A LOOK AT THE END OF THIS MESSAGE FOR MORE PICTURES THAT I TOOK IN VENICE, ITALY TODAY!

Recently a top American politician was asked on a live television interview who her favorite founding father (of the United States) is and she had no answer…she was blank!  It was apparently something she had not given very much thought to and it reflected very badly on her because a person at her level of national influence is expected to be able to demonstrate a love for the country and it’s history, as evidenced (in the very least) by a working knowledge of it.  I felt very embarrassed for her.

The incident reminded me of a conversation that I overheard a few years ago where a young preacher was asked “What is your favorite Scripture verse?” and he also was blank.  I felt very embarrassed for him as well and since that time, I will often ask this question to young ministers to test their love for the Word of God.  A preacher of the Gospel should have a love for Scripture that saturates his mind and thought life.  We should live it, eat it, breathe it and sleep it.  We should desire it every day like manna from Heaven.  When we preach, it should not be merely a rehearsed speech, but rather an overflow of the abundance of a heart, inundated by the Word of God.  “Thy Word have I hid in my heart” David said, “That I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11)

My favorite Scripture verse often changes depending on the season of life I am in and what God is dealing with me about at a particular time, but for the last year or so it has been Daniel 11:32b “…The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”

Now let me ask you…what is your favorite scripture? (LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW)

  • (matthew6:10)” Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven”.

  • My favorite Bible Verse is: Hebrews 9: 26 (“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself”).

I am not the only one who finds this Bible Verse great. On Verse by Verse Bible Commentary visitors gave this Verse the highest rating of all Verses.

We must always remember the great example and screfice our Lord Jesus Christ gave.

Isaiah 46:10. Declaring the end from the beginning, ancient times from things not yet done, saying my counsel shall stand and I will do all my good pleasures.

YHVH set this scripture in me. He shows us continuously that we need to change. It has been my favorite scripture for years and I imagine it will continue to be until I pass from this earth.

Just as the Ecclesia has been reformed it will be again and again if need be until we get it right. We are really close to what YHVH wants us to be. When we get it we will really shine and have much flavor.

Yeshua set the example, showed us how to follow YHVH’s law, and He became our sacrifices of sin, forgiveness, transgression, and peace. The Ruach ha Kadosh allows YHVH’s law to be, both, on our heart’s, and a joy to us. YHVH loves us.

My favourite verse also depends on what I am learning in ‘God’s Training School’ at a particular time – and his curriculum are diverse and changing.
As of this moment, my favourtite Bible verse is Phil 3:10

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

  • I think my verse for this year has been Revelations 3:8.
“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”
Why ? It´s been a word that came loudly from God, and feel that represents me and what I am going through in this time very accurately.

    Be blessed.

I think my favourite defining bible verse is Lamentations 2:14

“Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity to bring back your captives, but have envisioned for you false prophecies and delusions”

It sums up mans religious attitude to a holy God, the utter futility of pious self righteousness, not only in this era but through all history

But I also like Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, O man what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God”

  • was jus blessed by the article about your fav scripture..esp the line that said we need to speak from the abundance of a heart inundated with the Word of God..will always remember that..thanks a million Bro.Daniel..love and prayers..george

There are many… But, how about this one, with which I woke up in the middle of one night, in tears with my mouth whispering. My wife lifted up her head from the pillow and I shared with her also from my wonderful Russian Synodal Bible:
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God… For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks[b] foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” Amen.
Yes, Bro. Daniel and friends, this is from 1 Corinthians! Bless you!

  • My favorite verse(s) for quite some time now has been Ephesians 3:20-21
20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

The Lord always amazes me in how He works even beyond my greatest imagination! We praise God for you today brother and for the work that God is doing in you and through you!

My favorite scripture verse is “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”(2 Timothy 1:7)

May God bless you and your family.

Wonderful Helen. Bless you as well!

  • avatar Daniel Heywood says:

    Hi Daniel,

I am enjoying your blog, and finding the pictures interesting.

My favourite scripture verse for some time comes from Joel 3:11 “Thither cause thy mighty ones to come down O Lord.”

    Cheers,
    Daniel Heywood.

    1. avatar Daniel Kolenda says:

Interesting one Daniel. What is it that speaks to you from this verse?

    2. avatar Daniel Heywood says:

What speaks to me from this verse is that God is powerful and has “mighty ones” to execute judgement. Could these be the mighty angels that will accompany the LORD Jesus when He returns?

  • avatar Chuck Lindback says:

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

The desires on my heart are only the ones He placed there… :)

    1. avatar Daniel Kolenda says:

      Amen Chuck!
